Trey LaBostrie Visual Arts Scholarship

The Trey LaBostrie Visual Arts Scholarship honors the legacy of Ervin “Trey” LaBostrie III. The recipient shall demonstrate artistic excellence through visual arts and express themes of grief, healing, or the power of joy. This award is privately funded.
Trey LaBostrie Technical Scholarship
$1,500
This scholarship supports individuals pursuing a defined career or technical credential that can lead directly to employment, career advancement, or self-employment.This scholarship highlights Trey’s Legacy’s focus on giving back; therefore, you must describe how you intend to support your community after completing your training and achieving financial stability.
Margaret Benton Memorial Scholarship Series

Honoring students committed to continuing a legacy of service and leadership.
Three (3) Scholarships, $1,500 Each
Established in memory of Margaret Ruth Emerson Benton (1921–2012) — educator, mother, and community matriarch — this scholarship celebrates perseverance, purpose, and compassion. Three $1,500 scholarships, funded by attorney James “Skip” Benton, will be awarded to empower high school seniors who demonstrate strength of character and a desire to give back to others. Two designated recipients will be selected directly by the Benton family. Applicants must submit a 500–700 word essay that clearly shows how they intend to continue a legacy of giving after graduation. Essays should reflect sincerity, vision, and an understanding of how education can be used to uplift others and strengthen the community.
NOTE: Essays generated by AI will be disqualified.
Applicants must be a high school senior graduating in 2026 and must reside in one of the following parishes: Ascension, East Baton Rouge, Livingston, Orleans or Ouachita.
Applicants must also meet the following qualifications:
- Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average (GPA)
- Provide proof of acceptance (i.e., letter) into a college or university with the application
- Applicants are encouraged to provide evidence of leadership or community service, but is not required.
Recipients will be recognized at the Inaugural Red Tie Scholarship Gala, at the Baton Rouge Marriott, Saturday, March 13, 2027.
Completed applications must be received on January 10, 2027 by 11:59 PM.
Behavioral Health
$2,000
The Behavioral Studies scholarship is for students enrolled in a program with an interest deep interest in research, critical thinking, and applying behavioral insights to address real-world challenges such as mental health, decision-making, and social dynamics. Applicants should be able to identify ways that they can promote evidence-based strategies that promote well-being and positive behavioral changes.
This statewide scholarship supports Louisiana high school and college students pursuing careers in mental health or justice reform. Applicants submit personal essays centered on healing, joy, or redemption. The selection committee may add additional restrictions. Students enrolled in social sciences are also encouraged to apply.

All Louisiana high school seniors and college students under 32 may apply for the Visual Arts Scholarship. Please note that college students may not be in their final semester at the time of the application. Applicants from Dutchtown High, Southern University, or the University at Lafayette (ULL) will receive priority consideration.
All Louisiana students planning to study in a behavioral health or social justice law major may apply.
For the Visual Arts Scholarship, applicants must submit original artwork and a statement reflecting the theme (e.g., grief, healing, or joy) of their submission. Students who are interested in applying for the Behavioral Health Scholarship must submit two essays based on the prompts in the application.

No, attendance at the Gala is optional; however, winners are required to submit a high-quality video for the event.
Winners will be contacted privately approximately 30 days before the Gala. Winners will be also recognized at the Red Tie Scholarship Gala held at the Baton Rouge Marriott on March 21, 2026.
